I love a good road trip and yesterday was the best mini, impromptu and unplanned adventure I’ve had in a while. Of course a good playlist and one of your best friends who also loves a cross country goose chase to find an art exhibition is highly recommended! So with 2 teas in a flask we dropped the kids off at the school gates and headed out of Yorkshire to Lancashire to find The World Illustration Awards exhibition where some of my work was being displayed! As you can probably tell in this little video - I was more than a little overjoyed at seeing my work out there in the big wide world. Heart full, we hurtled round the rooms and ‘oohed’ and ‘aahed’ at each gorgeous illustration on every wall and each glass cabinet. It was like the teeniest tiniest holiday ever… but the best one!
And here’s how it all started - with these three little illustrations of mine which amazingly went on to win at The World Illustration Awards! …I still have to pinch myself regularly to know that it’s true!
If you’ve never met this character before then I introduce to you ‘Mr Crisps!’ So proud that this loveable guy has stolen so many hearts like he did mine when I first sketched him out in my little sketchbook. Now look ... off he goes to London Book Fair next. Hooray!
Want to know more about Mr Crisps and why I created this project? You can read my interview with The World Illustrations here - WIA Interview Ta Dah!
Aaand to top off one of the most loveliest trips… was this cheese toastie…it was superb!
